Time: upwards of 10 hours Medium: Photoshop CS + tablet Originally done for a contest for a hippocampus, but i really love the picture, so i finished it will a background and all (if you look closely you can see a school of fish! XD) Hippocampus: a sea horse with a horse's forelegs and a dolphin's tail [mine's not really a dolphin's tail but i thought my tail looks better; it was originally drawn with a dolphin's tail, but it didn't look too good] i'm pretty pleased with this - i know the lighting and shading is pretty off, but i drew this without thinking about a background, and i didn't want to go back and mess with the colors (i did dull everything a little, and gave it more of a blue tint - it was uber shinny before). this is the first in a long time i've tried a water background, and it looks a little awkard. [edit]details here (from before background added):click! beware-huge file size[endedit] comments and critique encouraged. =] i need to improve. created from the deep by gods of old, they gave him eyes and hooves of gold they gave him power, grace, and nobility and none could best him in beauty. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. Pathetic attempt at critique time: The shading on the cheek gives it a rather sunken-in appearance. Some breeds do have dished faces. Perhaps you could try shading it too appear a bit rounder next time? Ah, I can't explain it.
